“The Brief Return of David Gomez” follows a young man from the Guatemalan highlands after being deported while trying to enter the United States. As he waits to head back out to the United States, David Gomez takes toll of how increasingly unpredictable weather has made migrating north the only possibility for him and his family.
This Special was developed with a Grant from Fundación Gabo and UNHCR as part of a workshop on covering immigration in Central America. It was published in Guatemala's newspaper "El Periódico" on June 7th, 2021.
